how much does tv influence our lives?
Some people argued about the fact that the television series and the movies have no spesific effect on people , yet , they admit the positive influence of product placement and advertising on society.
Some people believe that everything people see or watch on TV influences them positively or negatively. moreover what is on tw alienates people at least for a moment or so from the reel world and takes them to the "fantasy world" which is created by the producers. They affect people's attitudes, their beliefs, their values therefore they can either strengthen or erode people over the time. They want to enlighten people the way they thought but who says they are the authorities to make them believe what they think and to show either the right or the wrong .

Television: The Enchanted Mirror
This movie, "an acclaimed 1981 documentary about the impact of television on people and social institutions , which was produced before the dawn of the computer age, has been remastered and released by Whole Earth Films " which is reviewed by the critics and even though i have not seen it yet , sounds like a very efficient source to me.

-the positive /negative effects that these tv viewing habits may have on our lives.
According to the article " Television in the Lives of Children " written By Cyndy Scheibe
The effects of television on viewers can be divided into two different types: 1) direct effects due to the content of what is seen (in the programs or commercials); and 2) indirect effects due to the activity of watching TV, regardless of what is being watched. This second type of effect is very important, because it usually means that the more time children spend watching TV, the less time they are spending doing other important activities (like reading, talking with others, getting exercise, playing games, being outdoors, etc.). A lot of the negative effects of TV, like lower reading scores, obesity, and poor physical fitness, seem to be due to these indirect effects. Because of that, it's probably important to set some limits on the amount of time your child spends watching TV, regardless of what shows you allow them to watch. Remember, four hours of Sesame Street is still four hours of television.

3. the future for tv ad tv viewers
(CNN) -- The future of television is changing before our eyes, as media giants scramble to stake their claims in the wilderness of Internet video.
Major studios, including Fox, NBC Universal, and Warner Bros. are moving quickly to establish Web sites for their premium video titles, in hopes of grabbing a growing audience of online video viewers.
It's an exciting time for couch potatoes and mouse potatoes alike, because nobody knows exactly how big audiences will consume video entertainment in the not-too-distant future -- whether it's on a mobile device, a laptop, a wall-mounted screen or something that hasn't been invented yet.
"Historically, the winners are the ones who embrace change," said Jason Kilar, CEO of Hulu.com, which was launched March 12 by the owners of Fox and NBC Universal.

to continue with the characteristics
To mention more about the Turkish characteristics i feel responsible to add common negative characteristics as well as positives. For this aspect i can say Turkish people's most frequent habits are drinking and smoking so much. Recent surveys suggested that drinking and smoking are closely related, and finally people with children tend to drink and smoke more.
And say more about Turkish people's habits , we always remove our shoes before we entering house this has a good and simple explanation , our obsession with cleanliness! We don't want to bring all the dirt from streets to our homes .
Even though British people are well known for their excellent tea drinks , in Turkey we have tea and coffee bars and in these bars, people doing nothing but staying long hours and chatting and drinking tea. A typical Turk drinks approximately 10 glasses of black tea per day. Black tea is the most popular drink in Turkey.
Finally Turkish people love kissing each other .Turkish men greet by kissing each other in their faces. This is a normal thing to see in Turkey. Man kisses man, woman kisses woman and woman kisses man in both cheeks every time they meet .
